FAQ
What Should I Wear?
Solid colors photograph better than patterns in most cases. Patterns distract from the subject and enlarge the subject, while solids have the ability to shrink. Use these tips to guide your outfit selection, as well as PINTEREST for outfit ideas. Also, consider colors you tend to get lots of compliments in. If you are unaware of colors you look best in vs. colors you should avoid, I offer a brief color analysis that can help guide your decisions. You can add that on for $75. See additional FAQs for tips on Cap n' Gown and Sports.
What Should I Expect for a Mini Session?
Mini photoshoots are fast paced in order to get as much variety as possible. Be ready to go at your start time. Have the balance ready in exact cash to hand off at the start of your session. There are plenty of mirrors and a restroom to prep yourself before your session. Feel free to come early for final touches while I am working with the person before your time slot.
Where Is the Studio Located?
The studio is located in Covington about 1-2 mins off the 12th street exit at a weird 5-way intersection right next to a pharmacy. You will see "PORTRAIT STUDIO" in the windows above and "Be Brave Be You Studio" marked on the entry door.
Where Do I Park?
There is free street parking on Greer and 9th (two other streets that meet at the intersection). There are also meters on the opposite side of the street as the studio. Be sure to hit the free 15 min button. You probably would need any additional but it depends how early you come.
When and How Do I Get to See My Images?
You will receive your online gallery within 2 weeks of the photoshoot sent to the email you used to book. From there you will be able to make your selections and additional purchases for digital downloads up to an 11x14, prints, canvases, or albums. If interested in wall art larger than a 11x14, reach out to me directly with an estimated size and I can send you a quote. If you would prefer I design your album for you to take something off your plate, also reach out for pricing.
Can I Bring My Pet?
There is an additional $20 cleaning fee that can be paid with the initial deposit. However, the pet MUST also be HYPOALLERGENIC. This is in place because we will only be able to clean after all mini sessions are over and we can't risk someone else being allergic to someone else's pet and fur they leave behind. If you want your pet in your photos or to skip the cleaning fee, you can book a custom session.
If your pet is hypoallergenic, also keep in mind that pets slow the session down so we can't get as many photos and variety within your time frame. They can add a lot to photos but they can also be distracting to kiddos. I love photographing pets with the family. I just like to be transparent with how it will go so you understand we will not get as much variety in the time frame.
What If I Have to Cancel or Reschedule?
Due to the limited spots and availability of the mini sessions, the deposit is non-refundable but you could gift it to someone else if they want to pay the remaining balance and take your spot.
Can I Book This for a Friend Group or Work Team?
If you are purchasing this for a non-family group, all photos will be taken as a group. No individuals will be taken. If you prefer to get some individuals book a separate shoot as well for each individual.
I do not do a lot of sessions of this nature and all groups will be different. It would be helpful if you used Pinterest or other resources to search for posing ideas to share with me that interest you. Have them saved to your phone and feel free to text them to me in advance.
What Should I Wear or Bring to My Cap n' Gown Session?
Most prefer a nice outfit under the cap n' gown, like what you will actually wear to the ceremony. Some might opt for college wear to show off their selected school, or a college grad might opt for an outfit specific to their major (like scrubs for a nurse.)
You can bring anything that represents you in terms of extra props. I would love to know ahead of time if you plan to do that and what you decide to bring. Just use my number above to text me.
Some college grads want to do a champagne pop. If you would like to do this you would need to book and pay for two back to back appointments in order for us to get everything I typically get in addition to going outside to document a champagne pop. Also, don't forget to pick up a cheap bottle of champagne for about $10 bucks.
What Should I Wear or Bring to My Creative Sports Session?
Bring any and all gear you would use in a game, including the ball. You could also consider incorporating your varsity jacket, trophies/awards, or other favorite hat or accessory.
What Will the Background Look Like?
I have several options. Some are recommended for only daylight use to utilize the beautiful natural light that spills in from the oversized windows, while some, the time of day does not matter because I use studio lighting.
Daylight Preferred Background Options and avoid booking after 3pm:
WHITE ROOM:
I have a very light and white area perfect for the natural light. Especially great for Families, Headshots, and Branding. I could use studio lighting if really desired but a daytime shoot would yield better results.
EXPOSED BRICK:
I also have an exposed brick area that is the same way as the white in terms of natural light preference but if we need to add in studio lighting that would not too dramatically change the look. Especially great for families and seniors.
Studio Lighting Options that can be booked ANY time of day:
Grey Canvas background with a darker more dramatic lighting setup. Especially great for families, headshots, and seniors.
Solid Color seamless Paper in a variety of colors to choose from. I typically select colors based on monochromatic or complimentary color schemes to match your outfit, or school color for seniors/grads. Best for individual photos. White or Black is wider and could be used for families or groups.
