The Best Months to Book Senior Pictures in Cincinnati
The Greater Cincinnati area offers a stunning backdrop for senior portraits, with vibrant cityscapes, lush parks, and picturesque river views. But when is the best time to capture that milestone? Here's a seasonal guide to help you choose the perfect month for your senior picture session:
Spring (April-May): I award the last week in May with the BEST possible week for photos in the entire year!
- Pros: Blooming flowers, fresh greenery, and mild temperatures create a vibrant landscape.
- Cons: Can be unpredictable with occasional rain showers mostly in April.
- Best for: Outdoor locations like parks, gardens, and the Ohio Riverfront.
- April: Should be used for the end of your senior year so you can still get your images back in time for grad cards and announcements.
- May: If at the end of May, can be used before you start your senior year. Summer break has usually just started. Pictures won’t be ready until mid June and by that time, you are an official senior and effectively beat the heat!
Summer (June):
- Pros: Longer daylight hours provide ample time for shooting.
- Cons: Can occasionally be hot and humid, making it uncomfortable.
- Best for: Any location
- Pro Tip: Shoot for early June as much as possible to beat the heat.
Summer (July-August): Mostly CLOSED for the season
- With the heat at it's highest, I take a break from senior pictures to focus mainly on fall sports teams
Fall (September-October):
- Pros: Stunning fall foliage provides a colorful and dramatic backdrop. If you can time it perfectly, you can end up with the most beautiful pictures!
- Cons: Can be unpredictable with cooler temperatures and potential for rain. Hard to predict and schedule around when prime colors will be each year. This time of year also competes with school schedules. Shorter daylight hours mean the need to get out of school or work early
- Best for: Outdoor locations with fall foliage, such as parks.
- Oct: My second favorite time to shoot. Only my 2nd favorite to May, because the weather is more unpredictable in October with rain or cold. The prime time for fall colors are sometimes short lived.
Winter (November-March): CLOSED for the season
Ultimately, the best month for your senior pictures depends on your personal preferences and the overall aesthetic you're hoping to achieve. It may also heavily depend on your availability if you juggle other extra-curricular activities or work.
